＜伊藤園レディスゴルフトーナメント　2日目＞◇13日◇グレートアイランド倶楽部(6,599ヤード・パー72)

　千葉県にあるグレートアイランド倶楽部で開催されている、国内女子ツアー「伊藤園レディスゴルフトーナメント」の2日目。前半を終了した横峯さくらがトータル5アンダーまでスコアを伸ばし、佐伯三貴と並んで首位に立った。

　トータル4アンダー3位には茂木宏美、トータル3アンダー4位には大山志保、トータル2アンダー2位タイにはアン・ソンジュ(韓国)らがつけている。

日本プロ日清カップ概要発表、臨時列車ナイスショット号も運行

　5月10日(木)から栃木県にある烏山城カントリークラブで開催される、国内男子メジャー初戦「日本プロゴルフ選手権日清カップヌードル杯」の記者発表が開催コースの烏山城CCで行われた。

　烏山城CCで日本プロが開催されるのは、1989年以来23年ぶり。第57回大会は尾崎将司が制しているが、今大会に向けてコースに様々な改造が施され、戦略性がさらに増している。

特徴的なのは18番ホール。ティグラウンドから約280ヤード地点の右サイドにバンカーが新設され、左のウォーターハザードとあいまってティショットの落としどころが難しくなった。さらに、グリーンと池の間にあったバンカーは埋められて急な斜面に。ピンを狙ってショートすればそのまま池に吸い込まれるスリリングなホールへと変貌を遂げている。

　久々の栃木での開催ということもあり、都心からの集客にも力を入れている。大会3日目(12日)、最終日(13日)には、東京上野からコース最寄駅の氏家まで朝6時06分発と、夕方17時55分発の特別列車「ナイスショット号」が運行。乗車券に加え、510円の指定席券で利用することができる。途中停車駅は赤羽、浦和、大宮、蓮田、久喜、古河、小山、宇都宮となっている。氏家駅からは無料送迎バスも随時運行する。

＜つるやオープンゴルフトーナメント　事前情報◇18日◇山の原ゴルフクラブ 山の原コース(6,767ヤード・パー71)＞

　国内男子ツアー第2戦「つるやオープンゴルフトーナメント」が兵庫県にある山の原ゴルフクラブ 山の原コースにて19日(木)より開幕する。この日はプロアマ戦が行われ、石川遼らが参加、最後の調整を行った。

　「先週の最終日と同じ感じで打てています」とショットは引き続き好調をキープしている石川。「あとはパッティングが入ってくれれば」と、今週もやはりカギとなるのはパッティング。前戦は最終日ショットは良かったがパットが決まらず、優勝争いにからめなかった。

　先週はT字パターを使用していたが、今週はスコッティキャメロン製のL字パターに変更。「最後の最後まで他の選択肢も考えますが、今のところはこれでいこうと思います」。まだ完全にしっくりとはきてはいないようだが、この選択が吉と出るか凶とでるか注目だ。

　「コースはあまり長くないのでショートアイアンで最低でも5メートル以内につけて、それが何回決められるか」を勝負のキーポイントに挙げた石川。例年激しいバーディ合戦が繰り広げられる今大会。持ち前の爆発力を生かし、久しぶりの優勝をつかめるか。

遼、5月から米ツアー遠征、全米OP予選には出場せず

　5月下旬から約1か月の米遠征を予定している石川遼。5月17日から20日まで開催される「とおとうみ 浜松オープン」終了後に渡米し、「クラウンプラザ招待」「ザ・メモリアルトーナメント」「全米オープン」「トラベラーズ選手権」の4試合に出場する予定となっている。

　なお、米国男子メジャー「全米オープン」には5月21日と6月11日時点で世界ランク60位内に入れば出場資格を得ることができる。石川は現在54位と出場圏内。5月21日にはレイク浜松CCにて同試合の日本地区最終予選が行われるが、石川は「今週、来週とポイントをしっかり稼いでワールドランキングでしっかり出場したい」と予選会には出場しないことを明かした。

昨年覇者の近藤共弘、連覇に向け「イメージはいい」

　国内男子ツアー第2戦「つるやオープンゴルフトーナメント」が19日(木)に開幕する。今大会のディフェンディングチャンピオン・近藤共弘は先週の「東建ホームメイトカップ」で最終日に7つスコアを伸ばす猛チャージで8位フィニッシュ。いい流れでこの大会に乗り込んできた。

　開催コースの山の原ゴルフクラブは「ショット的には苦手なホールもないし、イメージはいいですね」と好相性。「グリーンのアンジュレーションが意外と強いので、上りのいいところにつけられれば。あとはタッチさえあえばいいのかな」とアイアンの精度を重視し、連覇に挑む。

　昨年は2日目に首位に立つと、そのまま逃げ切り3年ぶりの優勝。08年から足底腱膜炎などで思うような成績を残せなかったが、見事復活をはたした。まだ足は完治しておらず、「多少足が痛かった。けど、これを言い訳にできるほど激痛じゃない」。トレーナーを帯同してのマッサージや、特注のシューズインナーで上手くケガと付き合いながらプレーしている。

　「僕も今年で35歳、体は万全じゃないけど谷口(徹)さんや藤田(寛之)さんのように年齢とは逆にいいプレーを見せれるようになれれば」、アラフォーながら第一線で戦う2人のように、自身も円熟味を増したプレーで男子ゴルフ界を牽引していくことができるか。

NBA Roundup: Suns' Morris suspended one game

The NBA announced Thursday that Phoenix Suns power forward Markieff Morris was suspended one game without pay for elbowing Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka in the face.

The incident occurred with 6:42 left in the third quarter of Tuesday night's preseason game won by Phoenix.

Morris is suspended for the first regular season-game in which he is eligible and physically able to play.

Also, the Suns announced that they waived guard/forwardJames Nunnally, who appeared in three preseason games. The team's roster is at 17 players.

---Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger is doubtful for the season opener against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night because of a calf injury, coach Frank Vogel said Thursday.

Granger suffered the injury on Oct. 16 in an exhibition loss to the Dallas Mavericks. He has not practiced since then. The Pacers complete their preseason schedule on Friday night in Dallas.

"There's a chance he could play on opening night, but it's probably unlikely," Vogel said, according to The Indianapolis Star. "He was on track to maybe have a role with the starting unit. Now he's struggling to find his timing.

"We're running the offense through Lance (Stephenson) when he comes off the bench. We'll see where he's at on a day-by-day basis."

---A strained groin could keep Joakim Noah out of the Chicago Bulls' season opener against the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

Noah has played less than 20 minutes in preseason games and just returned to basketball drills on Wednesday after sitting out a week to rest, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Noah acknowledged that he wants to play against the Heat in the opener and that he's feeling better. Still, he's concerned about rushing back and having the injury linger.

"I have to be smart," he said. "It sucks. There's nothing more that I want than to be out there on the court."

---The Washington Wizards trimmed their roster to 15 players ahead of the season opener next week by waiving forwards Josh Childress and Pops Mensah-Bonsu and guard Xavier Silas on Thursday, the team announced.

Childress, a 2004 lottery pick, averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in four preseason games. Mensah-Bonsu also played in four exhibition games and averaging 0.5 points and 1.3 rebounds. Silas saw action three times during the preseason and averaged 4.0 points per game.

Raptors pick up options on Valanciunas, Ross

A week before the decision deadline, the Toronto Raptorsexercised the third-year options on the rookie-level contracts of center Jonas Valanciunas and guard Terrence Ross.

The team did not release the financial terms of the deals.

Valanciunas, 21, is coming off a season in which he made the All-NBA Rookie Second Team. He averaged 8.9 points and six rebounds per game in 2012-13. Valanciunas was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 draft, then played the following season with a team in his native Lithuania before joining the Raptors.

Valanciunas was selected the NBA Summer League MVP this year, when he averaged 18.8 points and 10 rebounds in four games.

Ross, 22, gained fame last season by winning the dunk contest during All-Star Weekend. He averaged 6.4 points, two rebounds and 0.7 assists while playing 17 minutes per game last season. During the current preseason, he is averaging 12 points per game.
